Risca 29 - Hartridge 3

Match report by Clive James

Last seasons relegated team Hartridge were the visitors to the Stores Field in round 1 of the Plate.Kiaran Lewis came in at no.8 for the unavailable Callum Coughlin, Ian Broughton was at full back while Callum Anderson partnered Gez Roberts in the engine room with Darby starting  at tight head with Ryan Anderson on the bench.
For twenty minutes of the first half Hartridge played at 100 miles an hour as they took the game to Risca. The only reward  for them was a penalty goal.
On twenty five minutes Risca extinguished  the visitors fire when centre Miles Anderson went over for a try which Ben Pesci added the extras. Then wing Ryan Dallimore went over for Pesci  again to add the conversion.

Half time 14pts.-3.

The homeside in the first period were the victims of numerous off the ball incidents which went unpunished and during the second period that continued.

Risca though weathered the intimidation and ran out convincing winners with a Pesci penalty and tries from Tank who powered over minutes after coming on and a second for Ryan Dallimore after good work from Miles Anderson.Pesci  adding a conversion.
The centre partnership of Rhys Meredith and Miles Anderson were superb, wings Curtis Ayling and Ryan Dallimore were threatening all afternoon but Man of the Match was 2nd.row Gez Roberts who was immense in the loose and at the lineout.

Next saturday league action is back with the visit of Nelson.

Dan Bartlett's youth team have now gelled after coming together last season and got a superb win against Caldicot with two tries from Tom Cashell and one for Caleb Griffiths and Olly Lewis.Brad Meredith converted two with Dylan Musto adding one for a 26pts.-12 victory.
