After three weeks of no games due to bad weather and the WalesvBarbarian fixture Risca eventually took to the field away to Senghenydd. With players making themselves unavailable for various reasons veteran Matthew Dark came in on the wing while Biddy came out of retirement for a second time to fill the full back position.Ben Simmonds on the wing and Evan Ash scrum half were on permit from Crosskeys.

The opening period saw the homeside exerting all the pressure and the visitors defending to a man to stop Sneggy crossing the whitewash. On ten minutes Risca were penalised and the home no.10 put over the kick from the 22metre line to go 3pts.up.From the kick off Risca regained the ball on the 10yard line and a driving maul was brought down 30metres out.Rhys Meredith took a quick tap penalty and raced away fending off defenders and diving over under the posts for a superb individual try.No.10 Ben Pesci added the conversion.

Five minutes later another driving maul from 30metres out ended with another try near the posts with Pesci adding the extras.

Risca then leading up to the break conceded a number of penalties, some dubious decisions, and after the third Sneggy opted for a scrum. The ball was moved quickly to the right hand touchline and the no.8 forced his way over in the corner for an unconverted score.

Half time 14pts.-8.

The first 15minutes of the second period saw Risca again being penalised on numerous occasions which resulted in conceding ground after taking the initiative. From the last penalty Sneggy regained the lead when the no.12 went over for a converted try.

The visitors then put pressure back on the homeside to take play up to the 22.A penalty from Pesci after an infringement at the breakdown saw the lead restored.

But normal service resumed for the remainder of the half as the referee again penalised Risca as well as yellow carding Captain Joe Carlin. The home no.10 added two more penalties and the game finished 21pts.-17

The team that took to the field for Risca gave everything for the badge and they deserved to come away with a win rather than just a losing bonus point. The attitude of quite a few of the squad is not acceptable as it is letting down those who played at Senghenydd as well as the coaching staff, team manager and supporters.

We have two games remaining this year so lets have no excuses from the squad.Get to training support each other and we can move up the table to safety in the New Year.Other than the top three sides we can beat everyone around us.

Next Saturday we visit Brynmawr kick off 2.30.
