Match report by Clive James:

Risca travelled to Nelson without Rhys Meredith,Geraint Rowlands and Geraint Roberts who were all down with flu.Adam Sabri partnered Miles Anderson in the centre,Matt Plews was at scrum half,Ben Pesci returned at no.10 while veteran Sion Rees filled in at prop and Dean Whatley and Sam Tyrell  were at 2nd.row.Dan Webb was making a welcome return in Risca colours on the bench.

Within the first twenty minutes the homeside had raced into a 24pts.-0 lead with Risca gifting Nelson the scores with basic errors and woeful decision  making.After this early setback the visitors got back into the game when after a series of driving lineouts had been stopped Captain Joe Carlin got the touchdown from the next with Nelson unable to stop the surge over the line.Pesci added the extras.On the half hour mark Pesci added a penalty after the homeside were caught offside.

Dan Webb then replaced Sion Rees at prop.Risca were now keeping the pressure on and were rewarded ,on thirty five minutes when Pesci,Miles Anderson and Adam Sabri combined in a sweeping move the ball was moved to Curtis Ayling who cut inside before looping an overhead pass to the supporting Ryan Dallimore who touched down in the corner for an unconverted try.

Half time 15pts.-24.

Youth product Ethan Williams replaced the injured Curtis Ayling at the start of the second period.

With it important to start well and close the gap the opposite happened when with Risca attacking inside the opposition half a wild pass was thrown out and Nelson capitalised on the mistake to take play down to the Risca 22.A penalty was conceded and the home no.10 made no mistake with his kick.

The remainder of the half saw Nelson add three more tries and again two were gifted with wild passes being capitalised on.

A disappointing display with Risca,s superb try and the performances of Miles Anderson,Callum Coughlin and Dan Webb the only plusses of the afternoon.Oh yes and seeing Ieuan Davies catching a high kick.
