It was a bad day at the office for all the Risca sides with the Youth,Athletic and 1st.XV.being defeated.

At Pontypool the visitors were disrupted before taking the field with James Sully having to slot in at 2nd.row,Louis Tovey taking his place at blindside with Owain Cooper coming in at hooker.

The game got underway on a very heavy ground and for the first ten minutes Risca took the game to Utd.and kept them pinned in their 22.But it was the homeside who took the lead.From a lineout which was thrown long Utd, cleared up field and two dropped balls and a missed tackle allowed Utd. to make Risca pay for the errors by touching down for an unconverted try.This followed on from the eighth minute penalty from No.10 Mills who then put over another on 28minutes. Risca then got back into the game with the pack creating problems at the set scrum and with driving mauls.Two penalty goals from full back Dowle on the 30th.and 35th.minutes saw half time score at 11pts.- 6.

The second half was only six minutes old when Risca took the lead.A superb scrum drove the homeside off the ball and then a driving maul took play into the 22 before quick hands amongst the backs saw Taylor Dimmick held up short of the line.From the resultant scrum the home eight were driven over the goal line and scrum half Rhys Meredith touched down for Dowle to add the extras. 

The game then saw both sides cancelling each other out for the rest of the second half and with minutes remaining Risca conceded another penalty on the 10yard line in midfield.Utd's no.10 Mills made no mistake with the kick and the homeside took the spoils with Risca going away with a losing bonus point.

Full Time 13pts.- 14.

A win that was squandered from unforced errors and conceding too many penalties.

Man of the Match was Louis Tovey closely followed by prop Dan Webb and 2nd row Rhys Norville.

Next League fixture Dowlais at home 7th.April.
