Risca 66 - Senghenydd 14

Match report by Clive James:

This was the last home game of the season and Risca went out with a bang. After two good performances the home team continued where they left off last week by trouncing Senghenydd by 66pts.-14 scoring ten tries in the process.

Kieran Lewis returned after injury to the 2nd.row while Taylor Dimmick came back on the wing. Risca got the first try within two minutes when Wayne Whitehead finished off a move started from a lineout on the halfway line before quick handling  put him in.  Another try followed from Ben Pesci on 12minutes again from quick handling from the backline when Biddy spotted an overlap, he landed the extras. The visitors then hit back on 14minutes when slack tackling put the no.7 over for a converted try. Risca then took full control and by half time had added a further four tries from wing Taylor Dimmick, flanker Joe Carlin, captain Rhys Meredith and a second from Whitehead all with Biddy adding the extras.

Half time 40pts.- 7.

The second half was only 5minutes old when after good approach play the ball was fed to Callum Anderson who was unstoppable from 10yards out and the big man went over near the posts.Biddy failed with the easiest of kicks. Youth product Adam Jones then came on in place of Anderson in the front row. A quick tap penalty from Pesci on the visitors 22metre line went quickly through the hands and Tetley went over for another converted try. James Meredith then replaced Biddy at no.10 to partner his brother at half back. (when was the last time brothers appeared for Risca?)

A try followed when Rhys took a quick tap penalty and forced his way over for Tetley to convert.  A lapse of concentration then saw the Senghenydd no.12 race away through a gap for a converted try before Risca wrapped the game up with their 10th.try from James Meredith after his brother had another quick tap before handing onto Tetley who made good ground before giving the scoring pass.Tetley converted.

A big win to end the season at the Stores Field and hopefully with the squad staying together for next year a top four finish has to be the target.

Congratulations today to centre Adam Tetley on his 50th.appearance.

For the third week in a row, the team are Men of the Match.
