Match report by Mike Allen
After the lords mayor show of last Saturdays eight try victory over Senghenydd and scoring 54 points, Risca were brought severely down to earth at Garndiffaith and won ugly 12 points to 10 points.
Risca were forced into five late changes due to unavailability and injuries.
Garn got the first score with a penalty after twelve minutes and then they suffered a big set-back with a straight Red card. But then took the next score when they demolished Risca's non existing defence to get an easy try with a conversion to go into a ten point lead.
But just before half-time Risca put their best move together with Rhys Meredith breaking away and with no mistakes this time and good support by Jonathan Davies run in for an excellent try, converted by Owain Biddiscombe.
Half-time Garn 10 points Risca 7 Points.
After the break the fireworks continued with the Garn having another Red Card and both sides a Yellow Card.
With Risca now playing against twelve men for most of the time they still could not break down the gritty defence, but with five minutes left on the clock Rhys Meredith took it on him-self to try and win this game, and great determination and skill took Risca to the Garns line and then put Ben Farley in for the winning try, the conversion failed.
A great sigh of relief form a Large Risca Support.
The outstanding MAN OF THE MATCH Rhys Meredith.
